48hrs to Go - Panic Sets In! (Start -2)

Well its just 2 days to go and I'm carless and have been since Friday a.m.  Its always the same when you're going on a long trip - you always have a long shopping list and no time to achieve it all!

Well no point in panically really, so I'll busy myself with refining the route and updating this blog!

So, what news:

1)  Caledonian MacBrayne has donated the necessary tickets so we can take the trial to the outer reaches of the empire!  It is indeed a generous concession and we sincerely hope to use it to demonstrate more routes for EV tourism!  My wife and I are great fans of the Scottish W.Coast and have (in our youth) seen quite a lot of the first of Clyde, the Kyles of Bute and up to Skye.  Occasionally taking in Fort Willaim and the Great Glen!  However, this trip will realise some dreams that go back decades.  As a young air traffic controller, I worked the airspace above the Hebrides and in those early days we had no radar service and we worked (as they say) 'procedurally'! So I knew (can't forget) every island, every headland/landmark and every radio beacon!   I can still remember the words "RAFAIR xyz your are clear to route Shipness, Kintyre, Stornoway, 60N 10W to pick up Oceanic Track to Gander - confirm you Oceanic Clearance is on request"?

So we will set out from Ullapool and take the ferry to Stornoway and then meander slowly over Haris and Lewis before taking the ferry from Lerverburgh to N.Uist.  Another day will see us tour Benbecula - its was often the target for the 'jets' I operated!  Then on to Barra where the aircraft (I think) still land on the beach?  From Barra we take the ferry back to Oban (huge memories of!) and night-stop before heading to Islay famed for its whisky of course - and having the remotest 'high spec' EV charger in Europe!  Then from there its heading toward Glasgow - by the back-door!  Its Islay to the Mull of Kintyre and from then to Arran and back to the mainland, at Ardrossan!

The trip from Ullapool onwards (enabled by Caledonian MacBrayne) has surely got to be the "ultimate EV Tour - anywhere in Europe'?

2) As I said I am carless - this is due to the car being with the 'graphics sponsors' - Macrovison Graphics Ltd (info@macrovisionsigns.co.uk).  Their make over of the car is taking 3 days with 2 people working on it!  Its a stunning design they have proposed and we hope to reveal all tomorrow (7 Apr 14).

Peter and Teresa, we cant thank you enough for you contribution to the Team Green Motorsport WAVE entry art and graphics, which we will proudly display on Highland Charge 2014!

3)  We got a new WAVE sponsor on Friday - just an hour before we closed the graphics design.  Plugsurfing (see https://angel.co/plugsurfing/ ) are a startup company offering cross border, seamless EV Charging service, which should help our transit to/from the WAVE trophy event!

Adam and Jacob, at Plugsurfing - welcome to the team!

4)  Our first 'sponsorship in kind' arrived yesterday - 4 packs (48 jars) of high quality jams and marmalades from Auntie Val's Artisan Preserves!   There are lots to choose from - each filled with the conserve made with the freshest ingredients - prepared, by hand, with love and care!  These jars are extra desirable as they carry a Team Green Motorsport logo - so they will make great souvenirs for donors and team supporters!

This single donation will help raise a significant sum from those willing to support of designated charity - Help-for-Heroes!

Check out:   Auntie Vals Online Shop!

Sincere thanks to Val, Andy and the entire team at Auntie Val's for you support to Highland Charge and Team Green MotorSport!
